How is iPhone ironic?
It's the naming scheme for Apple...kinda linguistic in that way.
iPad, iMac, etc. It's what lets you know an electronic device is an Apple product.

Why would the existence of a place named "Croatia" be an extraordinary claim? The name "Croatia" is not ironic: nobody knows for sure what it means.
Perhaps we can tell Putin it's part of Ukraine...

That's different. The existence of Croatia is not an extraordinary claim. The existence of iPhones is.

It’s an extraordinary claim based on the lack of evidence. And I’m pretty sure ‘Croatia’ means ‘land of the Croats’. A non-existent place named for a non-existent people.

I am not saying the name "iPhone" is ironic. I am saying that making an iPhone is a huge engineering challenge. Think of all of the software it has to run. The Darwin kernel its operating system is based on is open source, but almost nothing else on iOS is. That means hundreds of thousands of lines of code had to be written by a single company. And that's not even considering the hardware.

It was amazing. I have my iPhone alarm set to go off every weekday morning at 7:00. Last night my phone chimed and asked if I wanted the alarm to go off this morning since it's Labor Day here and for many, not a workday. Pretty nice.
I bet that took someone a very short time to program into the phone apps. Someone who was able to make it through computer school probably and doesn't go to random websites looking for answers.

That because he sucks at writing code, then it must be impossible for Apple to employ people who are good at it.[/best guess]

Code that started out much simpler, coded by dozens, if not hundreds of individual coders, becoming more complex through iterative processes. It's like you don't even understand the basic concepts of programming.
I know...

Actually, iOS uses about 12-15 million lines of code, which is really not a lot. High-end cars (Mercedes, BMW, Tesla) use up to 100 million lines, while Google comes in at around 2 billion.
You’re only impressed by the amount of code in a smartphone because you’re shit at programming and expect other people to be.
