It may cover vandalism, but - like the lawyer in the video said - most private insurance companies have exclusions for damage due to war and domestic terrorism. The only way for the owners of protestor-damaged Teslas to be recompensed would be to sue the individuals who did the damage. Which may or may not work.

War and terrorism usually are protected by act of god clauses, because in most countries it is considered that no reasonable person or authority would consider it the duty of the insurer to cover losses in such extreme circumstances.

That's my take as well, but the current administration seeks to help any big business any way it can.

Quote:SpaceX’s Starship was launched into space Tuesday evening, but the world’s biggest and most powerful rocket ever built spun out of control and broke up on its latest test flight.

The Tuesday night takeoff was the third test flight in 2025 and the ninth since testing started in April 2023. It was launched from Starbase, Texas, had a smooth takeoff, but problems cropped up while in orbit.

“As if the flight test was not exciting enough, Starship experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly. Teams will continue to review data and work toward our next flight test,” SpaceX said in a Tuesday night post on social media platform X.

“With a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and today’s test will help us improve Starship’s reliability as SpaceX seeks to make life multiplanetary,” the company wrote.

The Starship started to spin out of control about 30 minutes into the mission, while the company — owned by tech billionaire Elon Musk — lost contact with the booster before it hit the water.

“Starship made it to the scheduled ship engine cutoff, so big improvement over last flight! Also, no significant loss of heat shield tiles during ascent,” Musk wrote Tuesday night on social platform X. “Leaks caused loss of main tank pressure during the coast and re-entry phase.”

My little sis bought a car with a bad (known) engine. There was another engine out of a car she had wrecked. We experienced a "rapid unscheduled disassembly" of the engine on the way home with it. Drove it another 12 miles with a connecting rod flailing around the crankshaft and a piston-sized hole in the side of the block. Drove it until it seized and then towed it the last 3 miles, only because we had to.

So with that "big improvement" they have moved their performance forward to exactly 0% of their initial goals which were supposed to be achieved in 2023.

Actually, it's a joke. I hope nobody actually thinks it's a technical term.

I could believe that Elon does after all ever read his white paper for the hyperloop?
