Hello - I am not an evil spirit :)

Just wanted to say hello to everybody here. I am glad that I found this forum.
I was raised in a Christian society. That's just how it is. There are very few people in my circle that I can say anything to without them becoming hot under the collar and defensive. No one is up for really thinking critically about or even challenging the concept of god amongst other things. All of my close friends and relatives believe in god to some degree.
Last week and I know that this was my own fool fault, I went to a Christian event with a friend because she had invited me over to her place for the weekend and since she's a devout Christian I went with her. I had no problem doing that. I like spending time with her. Wrong move. Long story short, I was referred to as an evil spirit and a demon because I didn't join in the singing and dancing and praising "god".
So anyway...that led me to actually try to find people that I can share with freely without being labelled a demon, or lost or someone that needs to be prayed for  . I just want to be left alone.
Looking forward to getting acquainted with the forum!

Yeah, that sucks but it is a common problem. Feel free to relax. We'll help you get over it.
There are a few theists...most are harmless. A couple are out of their fucking minds. You sound as if you'll have no trouble picking them out.

Sounds like a really delightful bunch of fundie whackjobs.
I have to ask which bit of the planet are you from so's I can stay away from there.

Welcome, Danceraaq. It's pretty sad that people were calling you an evil spirit and a demon.
Also, don't get so easily lured in by fr0d0's delicious cookies. They're very tempting, yes, but I think you can resist them if you try to.

There are quite a few atheists here...most are harmless. Some are mean for no reason. A couple are out of their fucking minds. You sound as if you'll have no trouble picking them out.

Its called "Dating for Jesus". It was VERY popular back in the 1980's, and I imagine it is still a popular tactic now. The church finds its most fanatic teenagers, both male and female, and teach them to "date for Jesus". To avoid kissing, play hard to get, and the "date" is to go to a church function. There is NO guarentee that the relationship will last. It is all about using sex and love for fishing out new cult members. Back in highschool in the 80's, I called them "cock teasers for Christ".

Yeah, Tack is a cool christian. Fr0d0 is cool as well. You will eventually meet the few fundies we have and get a laugh out of them.
I like the cool christians. The ones with a good sense of humor. Its the fundies I cant stand, and even though I dont want to speak for Tack and Fr0d0, something tells me they dont care much for the fundies either...wether they be of the atheist or christian persuasion.
