General seeking knowledge of fasting rituals related to ANY religion

RE: General seeking knowledge of fasting rituals related to ANY religion
Seems to me that fasting is a small way to make a sacrifice to offer up to whatever flavor of god/religion a person follows. Usually it's not really a sacrifice but more of a mild inconvenience. It's an empty gesture.

It's a simple ceremony for people to show off just how devout they are and to reinforce their obedience to the religion.

Feeling fat? Fast for Jesus to lose the pounds. The divine diet.

Given the infrequency of fasting in most religions, this is probably not the case. In fact, in most Christian franchises, 'fasting' amounts little more than following a vegan diet. In many Eastern religions, it means skipping some meals.

People are susceptible to singular experiences.    They don’t need to be constantly brain dead to be religious.    They only need to to be not too bright normally and unduly influenced by a few instances of exceptional delusions or gullibility.

I’m not sure that not eating for a few hours would create those instances. Certainly not enough to damage the brain.

You are unlikely to suffer permanent brain damage by non-fatal fasting. but if you are not accustomed to fasting every day, you might find your state of mind is noticeably different after fasting through just one day to the evening.

In the Church of Cyril, The Celestial Wombat, we have no fasting days.

We do, however, have strictly vegan holy days.

You can eat anything, so long as it's vegan.

The only problem we have is finding enough vegans for the menu.

I find that a large percentage of goddrers fast when it comes to knowledge, understanding, reasoning, and logic. They purposely starve their most valuable muscle.

The religions with psychedelic rituals probably fast. I know the last thing I want to do is eat while tripping balls.

I've never experienced such a trip.
