General seeking knowledge of fasting rituals related to ANY religion

RE: General seeking knowledge of fasting rituals related to ANY religion
Religiously motivated fasting has this very interesting habit of showing up in the hungry gap of a given culture, which changes and moves based on the geography of the originating region. I suppose the relationship can seem less obvious in the case of exported religion. We've imbued it, culturally, with moral significance - and maybe it has some - but assumption appears to be wholly mundane.

This is one place where I think that religion gets it right, and alot. There was going to be less food. There are many ways of dealing with that. Raiding and cannibalism being raiding and cannibalism, I can see why a person or society would want to wrap the hungry gap positively, as a part of the fabric of the divine cosmos.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Hey, OP! You wrote "General seeking knowledge of fasting rituals related to ANY religion"

I'm wondering if you meant "General, seeking knowledge of fasting rituals related to ANY religion"? Just the translationist in me. Cool

@Won2blv

Leaving aside the fasting question for the moment, a bit of advice -

When writing something for general consumption, remember two things: 1) you want it to be read by people 2) who will hopefully understand it.
