BrianSoddingBoru:
This year’s haj is being described as a traumatic more than spiritual experience by many pilgrims. Some pilgrims are reporting that there were collapsed people everywhere on the path to Mount Ararat. Both young and old. While some people were smart enough to wait for the buses. Other simply took a hike and tried to make it to the pilgrimage sites by themselves. I’m also guessing that some people were accommodated in places without AC. So some people have been communicating with their relatives there, describing their faces as “as red as a tomato”.
So this is going to be a little harsh. But if not all, a considerable part of these people are simply too smart for a medical opinion (believe me I know)
So I think it’s the Saudi Government that will have to put some stricter regulations in the future.

I’m only pointing out to the fact that climate change is very real. These are British soldiers. So as soldiers they have to display a certain amount of discipline in these ceremonial uniforms no matter what. But the UK saw three digit temperatures last year and this is likely to happen again.
So yes, It’s the headdress. I think they might just have to remove that one
Nanny:
It’s still not such a smart thing to do. I did some hiking today and it was only 92-93 degrees. Although the path was rather short and I was well hydrated and all that, It was still harder that the same path 1 or 2 months ago. So you don’t try to cross deserts at three digit temperatures unless you are a reptile or something of that sort.
