Because they pick and choose..especially those verses, because it excuses their hatred. They arent being mean to gays, they are merely doing what God told them (fucking zombies), but of course they ignore the other abominations, such as eating shellfish, planting 2 different crops in the same feild, and wearing clothing made of mor than one type of fiber.

They laugh at those laws, even though its the same god, and the same type of abomination as gay sex.

Not to quibble, D-P but "Paul" (or whoever) was clearly commenting on the OT in Romans. Second-hand bigotry is still bigotry and the source is that vile pile of shit called "Leviticus."

Points well taken but clearly, from Romans, Christians have always kept the parts of the OT they like and claim "fulfillment" to toss aside the rest. They beat us over the head with the 10 Cs but then when I pointed out Christianity is in violation of commandment #4 (they moved the sabbath to Sunday), Christians I've addressed seem find dismissing it as part of the OT. Their comfort with their own inconsistency sometimes amazes me.

Are you saying God started creation on a Sunday, how do you know this, it very well may have been Wednesday. The original commandment says, six days you shall labor and on the seventh (sabbath) you shall rest. Did not see any days of the week mentioned.

Mark 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

Matthew 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

Luke 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

Since it's established that Jesus rose on Sunday, the day before is Saturday and Mark and Matt establish that Jesus arose after the sabbath. You do the math.

Sadly, yes I have heard Christians say that, and they are deeply, deeply wrong - in fact, many of the non-theists I've met lead much more moral lives than most Christians including myself, and have a better understanding of what is right and what is wrong. If a Christian does tell you that you have no morals, tell them to go and read Romans 2:14-16.

However, many Christians are also misunderstood to be saying this when they are actually making the claim that atheism leads to problems grounding the existence of moral values (meta-ethics) and demonstrating the truth of moral claims (moral epistemology). There has been a long tradition of theists making such arguments from John Locke and Immanuel Kant through to 20th century philosophers like Robert Adams and apologists like C.S. Lewis) - there's a good article here about the different kinds of arguments that have been made over the years.

Deist Paladin, although I give you kudos for looking this stuff up, and I greatly respect your knowlegde of the bible (Hell, me and you can probably go toe to toe on our biblical knowledge and really have a great theological debate)..please remember that this is Dogschild you are posting to.
