Mormonism Is The Correct Answer!

Mormonism Is The Correct Answer!
I assume most of us have seen the South Park episode where all the religious folk of the town end up in hell and wonder why, only to be told that Mormon is the "correct answer"

However, other than the occasional knock on the door, they don't seem to get much time in the spotlight when compared to other religions, except for the usual newsworthy crimes and lunacy that define most of them.

Lately, though, beyond the insanity there has been some focus on Mormons as a topic of discussion. For example, there is an upcoming horror movie called Heretic where they knock on the door and end up being tortured in the basement by a psychopath (a former member, perhaps?) who gives them a VERY interesting religious choice to make, which alone would make for an interesting thread here once the movie has come out. I've only seen the trailer so far, but it looks interesting.

Then there is the new chain of soda cafes specific to Mormons, who are not allowed to drink coffee, tea or alcohol (another stupid religious rule for the masses to follow). So, in a few years you'll see a lot more diabetic Mormons with amputated legs in Utah. Hope they have good insurance!

Years ago my cousin almost converted until they informed him he couldn't see his own children unless they converted too!

I only have one personal encounter worth mentioning. I used to invite them in my house just to mess with them and over the course of a few weeks I learned their particular method of indoctrination and started presenting my own specific points AGAINST Mormonism (not religion in general, but just theirs) until they stopped coming back. Months later they were in another town and ended up at my aunt's door and she invited them in to be friendly. According to my aunt, in the living room they noticed my graduation photo hanging on the wall and one pointed at it and said "That man was the closest I've ever come to questioning my faith!". That moment is a particular source of pride to me in all my years of dealing with religious nutters.

So, do you feel it's now time for Mormons to finally get their due? And by "due" I mean more mainstream ridicule and less hiding in the shadows until the next news story comes up....
It will all be over soon...

I don't care, I'm not anti-theist until I feel personally offended by a theist(s) actions or words. The Mormons have never really bothered me, just shake my head is disbelief. However I'm developing more disdain for evangelicals every day. Where I live they tend to be more in your face offensive, a sense of entitlement that is undeserved. This election is not helping.

I recently found out that we have a family of JW's that have lived across the street for 5 years, always very friendly/never judging. I only figured it out when they told me that their religion prohibits them from voting.

And here I've been thinking it was 42.

That's the one good thing I can think of about that sect. I wish all of 'em forbade voting.

I've never heard of that rule. What is the "logic" (loosely) used behind prohibiting voting? Is it due to being a (somewhat) secular process?

From what I understand it's so they don't get entangled in political issues outside the church's doctrine.

That's the passive voice explanation. They believe, or are supposed to believe, that gods kingdom is the only legitimate government.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

That's built in to any form of abrahamic theism. The reason that there is no such thing as a benign form. A person either genuinely internalizes that and becomes a danger to themselves and everyone around them..or they don't...mounting a public facing transactional slide to the same end.

Now that you say it I do believe I heard that explanation before, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around it. Isn't "government" a system created by man? Would that be needed in their kingdom?

In reality, they still must follow the rules & laws of the government within the area they live, so I'm surprised they don't outright reject that and claim an island somewhere to live on.
