If the person is suffering a lingering and painfull death I'd display the pretense of agreement with what ever they said then ask the staff to increase the morphine.

I've seen 2 people die right in front of me while high on morphine and I can imagine they see all kinds of wild and wondrous things before they go.
It will all be over soon...

Or terrifying, depends on set and setting. Most slip into lethargy and somnolence.
