I disagree with the part about having "more want of money". I guess growing up piss-poor makes me satisfied to being able to meet my needs, now.

Yeah, I believe he means the grossly rich who hoard it and amass more out of an insatiable greed.

Poverty acclimates us to poverty. It's not great - but I guess it's better in absolute terms than everyone being as miserable as their situation would suggest they ought to be.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I know that you know that none of us ought to be impoverished. I have enough to live on now, but that was barely the case for a lot of years. My feet are fucked up from wearing ill-fitting shoes bought from the Salvation Army, for example. Luckily, I ended up with good insurance to cover those five surgeries, with more to come. Poverty sucks, that's for sure. Once I graduated HS and got a job, I could afford more food outside than what was available at home, and gained a bunch of weight and height by age 20, when I joined the Navy. Should have done that right out of HS.  Violin

IIRC Ben purchased some very pleasing adventures while in France,....... nudge-nudge.

Money can't buy the most important thing (sex) unless you're willing to pay for a prostitute and that's a terrible option.

I'm not sure you've thought this thru completely.

Money can buy books and thus money can buy happiness.
The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.
