HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR
So it’s already time to bid farewell to 2024. A year of record temperatures, endless wars in Palestine and Ukraine that are based on nothing the re-election of an aging narcissist in the US, significant progress of the far-right in many European countries…

But I’m still positive. At least there are no viruses preventing us from celebrating the New Year outside anymore. Belisarius (the East Roman Emperor) kicked the murderous Syrian dictator out of Syria so millions of Syrians can at least pretend to have some hope for the future of their countries. Also Israel kicked Iran in the butt so they won’t have that much influence in the region for at least a decade or so. Russia is closing its bases in Syria and is probably going to lose in Ukraine…

So let’s not be full of hatred and resentment toward the ending 2024 either. I know it could be better but it was not such a bad year either….

So what are your pros and cons toward the ending year of 2024 and the coming year of 2025?

To sum up: Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for 2025.

Best wishes to you as well.

At my age, making it to a new year is bonus enough for me.

I am a bit apprehensive about what 2025 is going to bring but it's one foot in front of the other - as with most everything else.

This is how 2024 should have ended

Anyway,

Happy new 2025.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I can only foresee an unending nightmare.  Every day will likely be a battle to get myself through.

Be happy now, for in the new year it may be increasingly difficult to reach that emotion.

I'm strangely numb regarding whatever is to come. I guess I'm still hopeful for a cardiac event,, an aneurism or a well-aimed bullet.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
