All of my friends and acquaintances are Christian. This limits the number of people who have similar interests as mine. Sometimes I wish I had more people to talk to regarding my beliefs.

I also have a number of religiously minded friends - they know my thoughts on the subject, I know theirs. We manage to get round it by finding areas of commonality that have nothing to do with religion.

But if you want to talk about atheism, you’ve come to the right place. Smile

I think that is true for a lot of us. I grew up in a Catholic town and went to Catholic school. Then moved to the American South and was surrounded by every flavor of not-Catholics. I try to make it a non-issue. I don't push what I don't believe and my friends don't push what they do.

We do have religious people here but we are mostly atheist and are happy to talk about all sorts of topics that aren't tinged with dogma.

You might want to check Meetup.com for a freethought or atheist or science group in your area that meets regularly. You enter search terms for the kind of group your interested in and a range in miles from your location that you're willing to travel.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

As I’m old now I can’t stomach any friends or acquaintances that love and worship the monster that will torture me for all eternity.

I’m fine living a life by myself

I don't make atheism a requirement for friendship. So long as someone's a good person and they don't try to evangelize me, we can get along.

When we first moved here from NI, a neighbour couple asked if we’d like to go to church with them one Sunday. After explaining that we weren’t believers, the wife - without missing a beat - said, ‘Well, how about a movie, then?’

We stayed friends for several years until they moved to the other end of the country and that was the only time the subject of religion ever came up. Lovely people.
