Dr Who ?
#11
RE: Dr Who ?
I haven't seen any of the old Dr. Who... only 9-10-11. The ninth was my favorite Doctor, and the 10th really grew on me... but the 11th just isn't my cup of tea really. It's still 'good', but he's a long way from how much I like the other two i've seen. I think it's the hair... Dodgy

I think the ratio is pretty balanced, but yeah, I can't lie ... there is a lot of shit out there.

I think networks like OWN and ABC Family do a lot to tarnish that Big Grin Plus, you cursed us with reality TV.

Someone who agrees with me on the best doctor Confusedhock:

I think Matt Smith is getting much better. Tennant wasn't great in his first season either, and Eccleston is a freaking legend, so you can't expect him to be shit hot straight out of the gate.

Sorry, I honestly, truly, and with all of my soul - HATE reality TV. It's the furthest thing from "reality" and I despise it. I'm Sorry

O and for the record ...
Shows like - The Kardashians and Jersey Shore and The Hills and the dozens of others that glorify these fucking rich bimbo elitist idiots that prance around in Gucci boots and $100K sports cars and don't actually do a god damn thing for a living ... they don't represent the whole of the American people. They have become celebrities for doing absolutely NOTHING and if you by chance hate them - I forgive you ... because I truly hate them too.

TV shows ... maybe a couple. For the most part, your tv shows are poorly acted and painfully boring. You should just leave the entertainment business to us and we'll leave the tea-swilling to you.

o calm down and just admit it ... you love our tv and movies.Tongue

I really hate the american TV shows....they are poorly acted and the scripts are sooo predictable. I really expect MORE from American TV. Some British TV shows are quite good...some a just appalling. So I am thinking that it really is a level playing field between the two. Aussie TV??? in the same boat...some good alot you would only use for torture..in spite of the Geneva convention.

Yeah I would say that the Yanks are better with the Special-FX and the Poms are better actors (must have something to do with Shakespeare). Ausies and Kiwis?? Shit ...we got the better locations!! Tongue

RE: Dr Who ?
Eccleston was indeed a brilliant doctor, though I didn't like his companion at the time (Billie Piper was never my cup of tea) his performance was nothing but stellar. But I must say I still prefer David Tennant. Matt Smith is part of the reason I think that I started to lose interest in the series, I've only seen the first 5-6 episodes or so with him as the doctor, no matter how much I like his companion.

who?

Must be a European thing.

Except the thread was started by an Australian.

How can you not heard of Dr Who?!

Actually, can you name any T.V show (or country Tongue )outside of the states?

Honestly, you think pretty much every show outside of the states is poorly acted and boring? I'd suggest you haven't actually seen that much (echoed by the fact you couldn't name one show Tongue ), there is some amazing television produced world wide, not just in America where I'll admit, some amazing stuff has been produced; Band of Brothers, Curb your Enthusiasm, The Wire and not to mention the animated shows like Family guy and American dad and the Simpsons. However, like someone said, American T.V produces SOOOOO many shows, the vast majority of them being absolutely terrible that it's bound to produced quality as well.

Agreed Leo, Rose was annoying, Martha was a slight improvement, but Donna! She was fucking brilliant... BRING BACK DONNA! They need to fix her timelord-brain problem. That being said River Song could end up being someone equally as cool... I wonder if she is Amy and Rory's daughter.

Also, Donna's grandfather is the best "pesudo-companion" on the show, aside from possibly Roses mother who was pretty fucking awesome.

Do any of you brits or aussies watch the American show - Modern Family. Is it broadcast in your respective countries? It's a new show in its 2nd season. Most everybody here seems to love it (including myself) and I was wondering if I could get a quick survey from those of you outside the states. Anyone?
