Veganism - the other OTHER religion
#31
RE: Veganism - the other OTHER religion
I eat meat every day. I love meat and feel no need to explain or justify this enjoyable legal practice. PETA and other humbugs can go fuck themselves.

Do I love other animals? Hell no; I don't even love human beings as a species. I'm very fond of my pet dogs and would have to be very hungry indeed to eat them, but eat them I would in extremis. (just as they would eat me)

Do I care about the suffering of say chickens and pigs? Yes, in that I dislike any kind of gratuitous cruelty. However, I'm not sufficiently concerned to stop eating them.

I helped my friend do a research project on animal cruelty and abuse within major corporations and livestock raising these days. Let me tell you, he and I both cared far less about those fucking animals after reading PETAs idiotic rambling about how we humans are' such cruel and terrible demons' for what we do to animals. Seriously. One entire chapter in a PETA boo kwe read was dedicated to chickens and how one should treat them on a farm. The author of this book actually suggested that half an hour of television every day was good for calming a chicken down. What the fuck?

Despite this, I'm dating a girl right now who is actually vegetarian, and I have no problem with it. Nor does she have any problems with my eating meat. I respect her a great deal for her choices and I don't think that I'd be able to very easily do what she has done with her lifestyle. And her health has certainly benefited from it anyway. She abstains from anything unhealthy, not just meats. That means soda, fast food, etc. etc. is all off the table for her. She does it for health reasons, and I greatly admire those who do that.

Still, bacon is fucking delicious.

Let me get this straight, are they 'fucking animals' because of PETA or something else. What a strange conclusion, obviously you had no idea what the research project was about, and cared even less.

Because someone carries on with 'idiot rambling' this makes you hate the animals even more. Facepalm Alot of religious people carry on with 'idiotic ramblings', does this make you hate your fucking god.

I fall into the category of semi-vegetarianism, specifically I am a pescetarian.

Personally I don't think people's diets or practices even matter, so long as you're happy and live a healthy lifestyle. It seems that some spend too much time looking at what's on other people's plates instead of their own. ^^

I am all for Vegan or Vegetarian dietary habits. I also like Mediterranean, Yiddish and Middle Eastern diets as well.

PETA lost my respect when they targeted (through PINK) the mulesing of sheep here in Australia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulesing

It would appear that they would rather see sheep suffer Flystrike http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myiasis than have the farmers prevent this painful way of dying from dis-ease

See, you get it. Your Girl friend is NOT the one I am focusing on in this thread. those individual vegetarians I have very little problem with. It's when they get into groups and say "Hey, what can we do to get everyone else to be like us?"

Bacon is beyond delicious..let me make you an offer...

The point was that PETAs arguments are simply not very persuasive when it comes to stopping animal cruelty, nor are their proposed solutions even close to reasonable. I'm all for animal rights where it makes sense, but so far, no one has come forth with a plan to get meat out of all of our diets that wouldn't have detrimental effects in plenty of other places. Maybe it can't be done. I don't know.

The point is, I'd kill a kitten to save a human being. That's about all I have to say about that.

@Rev. jeremiah: a tempting offer...but I'd have to say no, since Jesus lets me eat all the bacon I want.

Wait...

Pork of any sort is reason enough to say Judaism is bullshit.
