Anyone, wether god or mortal, who makes an eternally flaming torture chamber does not understand even the very basics of forgiveness, benevolence, or what is good. Someone who creates a Hell and then claims he is forgiving is a liar, and should NOT be trusted tih any other promises he makes.

If I told you I had a torture chamber in the basement of my house, and that I used it on people who did not do what I asked them to do, what would you think of me?

I am talking about the extremists. The PETA Vegan's who want to legislate their views on everyone.

The people at PETA are a bunch of assholes. I lost all respect for Bob Barker when I read about him giving $2 million to this organization of douchebags.

Weekend before last my girlfriend & I went down to St. Augustine to see Rise Against & Bad Religion, the tickets for which she won a couple of months ago off the local radio station. About half way through Rise Against's set they paused for a minute to give thanks to everyone helping them with the show, roadies, concessions, etc. Every time they'd name someone off they'd get a cheer from the crowd. Apparently, Rise Against are big fans of PETA, who had a booth set up outside of the amphitheater. When they got to thanking PETA, the crowd simply died. No loud cheer. There was a somewhat audible "huh" & people around us were turning their heads to look at each other in disbelief. PETA is very unpopular around these parts. The concert was great, but that part stuck with me & makes me chuckle whenever I think of it.

Im not surprised one bit. PETA made a name for themselves before they even moved to Hampton roads. Now they have their fingers in our government and only the extremists would applaud that. People who own pets are afraid to let them outside for fear that some animal activist will find some kind of law broken and call the cops on them. Its one of the reasons why my father put up a privacy fence around his property. If he wants his pet rabbit and dog to play chase each other, then that is his enjoyment and theirs, and not for someone to call the cops on for "mental anguish" of which ever animal was being chased at the time.

PETA is a bunch of unbelievable morons and I can't believe anyone gives them money. Every time I see a Hollywood celebrity endorsing these jackoffs I make a mental note to avoid their movies.

Have you ever seen their literature? They sell stupid shit like a tiny rope ladder you can attach to a faucet and have it dangle into the sink. This allows a spider (or other insect) to escape if it falls into your sink! Yeah, like I'm worried about saving spiders and bugs. Any creepy, crawly things that get into my house will get stomped, squashed or sprayed with insecticide. These PETA twits would make it illegal to kill a rat that gets into your home. And not only would they make it illegal, they would charge you with MURDER!

And I'm really sick of seeing these jerks every Thanksgiving accusing us of "turkey murder". FUCK YOU!

These assholes are closet terrorists and need to be opposed at every turn.

The fact is, we have evolved as omnivores and we require meat as well as vegetables.

They seem to have this idea that in nature animals live in some sort of happy co-existance where no really gets hurt.

One suspects they've watched "Bambi" one too many times.

It's an ethical choice, simple as that. Noone's denying that we're omnivores and that there's a great deal of cruelty in the wild, but that argument simply isn't comparing like with like.

We are animals, after all, and I personally think that we have a moral obligation to minimize the suffering done to our fellow creatures, no matter how lowly they are. As long as they suffer, I think it's wrong to turn a blind eye. I'm sure a philosopher like Shelly Kagan can be more eloquent about it, but it's a simple and fair ethical stance. Comparing it to a religion is rather insulting, especially when coherent arguments can be made by both sides, and I fucking hate it when people think veganism for moral reasons is some form of "extremism."
