As far as how family took my outing? To be expected, I suppose. First met with silence, and then after I confronted them each in a phone conversation, hostility. Now, it's back to silence with an elephant in the room. But oh well. My wife is still Christian, but is extremely tolerant toward my atheism. She's not happy about it in the least, but we are still a happily married couple. I can live with that easy!

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks again for all the warm welcomes!

It's a shame that most religious American's seem to place a higher value on believing bullshit than actually accepting their own flesh and blood for what they are. At least your wife 'tolerates' your atheism. Lol can hardly believe i'm saying that. As though atheism is some dispicable disease that destroys the rest of the world and forces people to go out and kill in the name of... wait... what?
Sound familiar?

In the UK religion isn't placed anywhere near the value of family and friends, except by the very small minority of bible bashers and muslims (although the muslims seem to be becoming less of a minority).

I've read the article. It was very interesting.

I have a question however, you said:

After praying diligently, I got a Holy Spirit response. It was a response I was familiar with. The same response that told me I would get the job I had prayed for, and did. The same response that comforted me in times of stress. This response said, "Dan, you will have your cats back, as you have asked". Not being new to this "still soft voice" I generously thanked God and waited for the answer to be fulfilled.

I still believed that everything was going to be fine, based on the Holy Spirit response I had in my heart.

It was in fact my own self making up the feeling. I created my own Holy Spirit experience. This led me to ask what all the other Holy Spirit experiences were. I would later conclude that they were all made up in my mind! There is no Holy Spirit! Never was, and never will be. But at the time, I remained angry.

Did you really hear a voice? or what exactly happened: you imagined, you got confident that it would be so, or what?
