Morality without religion

The BBC's Moral Maze program discussed this question this week; If you don’t believe in a set of divinely inspired moral rules, how do you decide right from wrong in a world with complex and competing interests?
You can hear it again on here
It's only there for a short time via the BBC iPlayer. Not sure how that affects non-Brits.
Well worth a listen if you can!

Just listened to it, was great =D
The secularists seemed to have a dominating upper hand throughout. Shame how when the question "where do morals come from then?" was brought up, the secularists didn't say evolution and go on to explain it properly.

I listened to it while I was driving and thought it was excellent (26 years old and regularly listening to Radio 4; is this the way life goes?) -- I've a renewed respect for Michael Portillo.
I also think it was a shame that the argument that morality comes from religion wasn't destroyed more comprahensively. The Bishop of Southwark was, basically, making the point that if it weren't for religion there humans would have no moral reference. Why didn't anyone answer this chicken and egg question with the fact that religion merely codified the basic human moralities, it didn't invent them?
