I honestly wasn't aware that the drift and Faux occurred around the same time, even that would lead me to the conclusion that Faux is pandering, but my opinion on this is just opinion. Its embarrassing either way isn't it?

But a clear and consistent history of distorting facts and figures to favor an extreme political viewpoint doesn't have an effect?

Surely you must be joking.

Yeah, my father in-law watches only Fox News and I can tell you that the people that watch it take it as fact without checking things out for themselves. Fox blatantly lies, tells half truths, and distorts the truth, over and over while under the guise of credible news. It gives the conservatives what they believe to be factual basis for their beliefs. Pandering or not, it has made a huge impact on the American political landscape.

Meh, like I said, just an opinion. I suppose I'm more inclined to believe that a for-profit found a niche and met the demand for the product. I grew up in the deep south, surrounded by born again christians and conservatives. I've heard the "Did you hear that -insert ridiculous "news" here- thing for as long as I can remember. Which is all I hear when I watch Fox. Just saying that the pulse was already there.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

This is exactly what happened and Rupert Murdoch has done this in several countries. He then hired Roger Ailes as president, who is an ultra conservative, true believing, cocksucker to create an illusion of legitimacy.

Sure the pulse was always there, which is why Murdoch pounced. Fox News though gives these people what they feel are legitimate reasons to hold onto their crazy beliefs. What was once dismissed as wholly ludicrous and insane is now being broadcast as credible.

And it's owned by a foreigner. Rupert Murdoch is an Australian. How come so many gun totin', Christian livin', freedom lovin' Americans let a foreigner tell them what to think? It sickens me.

I'll bet it's an Aussie plot to take over the USA before its two biggest creditors get it (Canada and Mexico).
