Tapatalk Integration
Hey everyone,

I've just finished adding Atheist Forums to the Tapatalk database, so anyone using the Tapatalk app on their iPhone, iPad, or Android device can now access the forums through it. To add the forums to Tapatalk, either search for "Atheist Forums", or find us in the "Society and Culture -> Spiritual and Religious" category.

Please report any problems to me.

RE: Tapatalk Integration
Hmm. I had my hopes up, as the mobile version of the forums sucks and the full version is kind of a pain on my phone browser (Dolphin on Droid X), but it turns out that Tapatalk is not a free app and I am a cheap bastard, so...

It's $2.99!! That's outrageous when it comes to app prices.

What's wrong with the mobile version?

Also, if you own an iOS device then you can easily jailbreak it and get it for free. The same is probably true for Android. I'm not saying this behaviour is particularly ethical, but it is possible if you don't want to / cannot afford the price.

RE: Tapatalk Integration
I can afford it. That's not the issue. I think $2.99 is a lot to ask for an app that's basically just a forum client. I have 432 apps on my Droid and haven't paid more than $2.99 in total. Heh! I don't feel justified in paying that much for an app I will only use for one forum.

And I take that back about the mobile version of the site. It's not bad at all, really. It just doesn't have all the features... most notably the Kudos system, which causes me to switch back to the full version if I want to give kudos to a post. I was hoping the Tapatalk thing (which I had never heard of before) would be cool and, preferably... free!

Adrian, I know a computer nerd that might be willing to create a stand-alone app for the site if you want. I'm sure he'll do you a favor. Smile

In that case don't buy it as the kudos system is not in Tapatalk either. I use Tapatalk for more than 5 forums now when I'm travelling. Some of the mobile versions of certain boards are not bad but the majority of them are not great. Tapatalk is a great way to make the entire forum reading en posting and even moderating experience more uniform. However specific features that certain boards have are lost in Tapatalk, as you can't possibly put possible plugin in that have ever been made for any type of board. It is a mobile solution after all.

Well as leo said, kudos isn't in the Tapatalk version either. However, give us some time and we'll try to integrate some of the more advanced features into the mobile version. I don't want to do it currently because the mobile theme is still in beta.

RE: Tapatalk Integration
Ah. Well, I'm glad I didn't pay for the app then. Reading the forums via the mobile version is just fine and if you can get the kudos system to work, that would make it rock. Thanks for the info.

RE: Tapatalk Integration
The only problem I have is that it advertises the tapatalk app whenever I switch to a new page/thread/post. It pops up every time even when I've just pressed cancel the page before.

It's not that big an issue, but it is sure annoying.
