RE: CHEERS
Well it's 11:45 in Tennessee tonight. I'm spending some time at a BEAUTIFUL (and enormous) resort cabin with my immediate family up in the Smoky Mountains. Couldn't be having a better time ... probably because my crazy fundy parents won't be arriving until Thanksgiving Day.

They'll throw a huge damper on the party with their Jesus bull shit, but we've learned how to set them straight and keep them busy with the grand children when all else fails. Anyway, until then - couldn't be happier.

CHEERS and a happy thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate it.

Hey everyone.

We had a good thanksgiving. We didn't let my crazy fundy parents bring us down too much with their jesus bull shit and actually had a pretty fucking good time.

My brother picked up the entire tab on this place in Tennessee. Very cool.

We leave tomorrow morning. I'm a tad drunk right now, so I wanted to get on my favorite thread and say,

CHHEEEERRSS!

What does thanksgiving mean to me?? An excuse to get together with the people I love the most and party the god damn roof off!

Gotta gig tonight and Saturday night. Good paydays all month actually.

One of these days I'll have to steal an idea from El Deniro and post a video of one such gig.

Anyway. Life is good and even when it isn't it usually works itself out.

CHEERS you beautiful fuckin heathens!!!

Good luck.

I just acquired a weed brownie for tonight and will acquire a whole bunch more tomorrow in an effort to give my rather sensitive throat time to heal. It's gotten so bad that I can't even use a vaporizer and I suspect it is partly habit (of coughing), partly damage to the throat lining.

Either way, I'm switching to full edibles for a week.

This thread has simply become a good place to drop a single thought when you don't want to start a whole thread about it.

So with that in mind -- the following still makes me chuckle.

I was playing one of my weekly gigs over at Nick Fink's (a bar not far from my house), and after completing my second set, a slightly intoxicated woman of about my age approaches me with several questions.

She was very kind, complimenting me and asking me the sort of regular questions I often get asked: How long have you been doing this? Where else do you play? How many song? etc etc.

I figured the pleasantries were about over and I was about to refill my beer when she hit me with -- "do you ever play at your church?"

"MY church??" was of course my response. "Well, everybody has some kind of church." she says with a well duh kind of tone. "EVERYone does?" I replied.

Being a bit intoxicated she didn't pick up on my own sarcastic tone. She actually went on to say that she asked because SHE thought it would be great if I would come and play at her church sometime in the coming month. Play in her CHURCH?!?! What the fuck? Am I on some kind of reality prank show? Did my friends set me up? What's going on?! I wanted to say, "look crazy bitch, I don't know how it is you think that everyone has a church, let alone that a musician you met in a BAR would be interested in coming to play the Praise Hour in your little god center, but you need to turn your naive little ass around and head back to where you came from."

I didn't say that. I was polite and simply declined, but my friends and I did have material for humor the rest of the evening. Big Grin

Still kinda makes me laugh. A drunk woman in a bar trying to get me to come perform in her church.

Actually, if the behavior in Wilkes County NC is anything to go by she has every right to think you'd be playing lascivious music Sat night, then drag your hung over ass up to Church to play the next morning.

That's about how it went when the ex and I visited his family.
