The Catch-All Botany Thread

Which I admit, will most likely be used only by Rhythm, Kichi and I. Oh well.
UBC's Botanical Gardens does a Photo-of-the-Day that features a variety of interesting plants. This one caught my eye because it's striking, and also because the fight to control it in North America mirrors many problems we have with vegetation: how to fight one particular invasive organism without hurting those around it.

This species can grow up to 36 inches tall with its green fern-like ternate leaves (having three leaflets projecting from the same point). It produces 3-15 individual heart-shaped dangling flowers with pink outer petals and white inner petals. The name comes from the appearance of the pink flowers which resemble the shape of a heart with the inner petal looking like a descending drop of blood.
