The Dark Side of the Placebo Effect
Interesting article shared by a nice skeptic I just met today (they really are the most welcoming group of people).

This relates to the sleep paralysis thread Rev and I had going.

RE: The Dark Side of the Placebo Effect
That is a very interesting article. I think we had a thread a while back where we discussed our nightmares and dreams. I've had these experiences of sleep paralysis combined with nightmares off and all most of my life, beginning, I think, when I was an adolescent. They don't happen often, but when they do, they are usually very frightening. Fortunately, one hasn't killed me yet.

"In short, Meyer has shown that his first disastrous book was not a fluke: he is capable of going into any field in which he has no training or research experience and botching it just as badly as he did molecular biology. As I've written before, if you are a complete amateur and don't understand a subject, don't demonstrate the Dunning-Kruger effect by writing a book about it and proving your ignorance to everyone else!
