Censorship
October 18, 2011 at 8:48 pm
(This post was last modified: October 18, 2011 at 8:53 pm by reverendjeremiah.)
VOTING INSTRUCTIONS: Either you support censorship or you do not.
Example: If you support NORML's (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) right to have equal access to public communications, but you oppose NAMBLA's (North American Man/Boy Love Association) right to public communications then you would vote "I support it". If you oppose any and all forms of censorship then you would vote "I oppose it".
If you post on this discussion, I only ask that you vote in the poll (either before or after discussion) as well so that we can see how this strong atheist community views labor unions.
Thankyou

The only things that I believe should be censored are passwords... no form of speech (however profane, and however inappropriate) should ever be censored.

Any form of censorship is wrong, with one single qualification being that I retain the right to 'change the channel'.
The problem with censorship is where should the line drawn and who is in charge of making that decision.

I oppose nearly all forms of censorship with the exception of child pornography, which I abhore.

As I've written before, if you are a complete amateur and don't understand a subject, don't demonstrate the Dunning-Kruger effect by writing a book about it and proving your ignorance to everyone else! The only censorship i like is;
Wikileaks release documents, Guardian (UK PAPER) doesn't want to print names of people involved(Afghan civilians), Julian Assange, did. Assange left the names in the documents, those people who have helped our militaries are now in danger. He says, 'they shouldn't have grassed then'.
2 Things to learn.
1- Assange is a douchebag.
2- Censorship can help to save lives.

Agreeing to keeping things secret and withholding information is a choice the bearer of the information makes, censorship is that when another person or group stifles the information or opinion.
In the case of Nambla for instance, I am against censoring their message, let them shout it from the rooftops if they want. They have as much right to free speech as I have to ignore them.
Oh and indeed, Assange is a giant douche-bag.
