Censorship

I've actually been thinking about this all night, and Rev - would you say "keeping a secret" is censorship?
As with anything, acknowledging that people have the right to exercise some form of liberty guarantees that somebody will abuse it. That's the trade off.

I would not think that child pornography would fall under censorship as that is the result of illegal activity. Though, even that creates a line drawing contest.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

Child porn laws aren't just about the result of a crime, in fact it doesn't usually matter if the pictures were created by exploiting children or not. Most (if not all) child porn laws prohibit even depictions such as computer generated child porn that isn't created by harming children. The reasoning is to destroy the market for it so to destroy the desire to create it. I was suggesting that the term 'censorship' is not applicable to child pornography and not that it is OK. Regardless, it still draws a subjective line.

There are a lot of variety of things that child porn laws cover and in some respects they are worthy of debate as to their efficacy and how they should be applied. RE: Censorship

Child porn is illegal..it will not be shown for the protection of the minor. It desnt apply to this discussion UNLESS it becomes legal. In countries that child porn is legal in, then it should not be censored. ...is there such a country that it is legal in? BTW, dont think me in support of it..merely pointing out facts. Censorship is holding back the opinion of others from public view.
Then I absolutely don't believe in censorship, but I do respect the need of the gov't to keep some things secret for defense purposes. I also think you're allowed to have your own opinion, and you're also allowed to get arrested if whatever you put forth in public incriminates you in some way.
I believe illegality shouldn't be censored either.

Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
