The love toward the unbelievers!

They can't bear to see people who are actually free to think and act the way they want to whilst they are stuck pretending they are all 'good and honest' in the vain hope they might go to a fairy tale land. In the article that senior member Doubting Thomas wrote: “This appears to be one of the reasons for all the animosity Christians have toward nonbelievers. It's not just the "if you're not with us, you must be against us" attitude, but perhaps because deep down Christians know that they don't have ample evidence for God's existence. What do they have? A thousands-year-old book filled with stories of talking snakes, global floods, and dead people coming back to life that was written by superstitious sheep herders who didn't have the benefit of modern science with which to understand the world. They also have faith. Faith based on this ancient book, and nothing else. This is a very tenuous position to say the least.” Click for the entire story. http://www.atheiststoday.com/articles.php?article_id=16 From my experience as a former Christian Fundamentalist (Cf) this is more of a background noise that sneaks in every now and then. Most cf’s are so deluded they don’t know how deluded they are. Others hear the noise more loudly but choose to make a loud noise themselves to drown out the unwanted sound. There is doctrine they teach lay people regarding “the helmet of salvation” Ephesians 6:17 http://www.wordlibrary.co.uk/article.php?id=102 according to the article mentioned above “The hope of salvation is for the head. It covers our minds, intellect or reasoning. " As it was explained to me it’s purpose was to block out sound and keep you focused. Don’t let the Evil one (in this case the Atheists) deceive you; put on your helmet. In other words the concept of ignoring anything that may cause them to question things is in their doctrine. BTW they start teaching this particular doctrine at a young age. It usually involves attaching the concepts to something concrete. Children make little suits of armor and walk around in them. Anyone want to puke yet? I couldn't find a puke smiley face thingy so I'll use this one (November 2, 2011 at 2:58 pm)Ziploc Surprise Wrote: From my experience as a former Christian Fundamentalist (Cf) this is more of a background noise that sneaks in every now and then. They actually parade around in physical representations of the concious desicion to be ignorant! Wow You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis. I speak fairly similarly, it's not posh, it's well spoken, there is a difference. But either way when people like me say fuck it has a Hugh Grant-esque comedy about it. Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

BTW there is a more recent interpretation of the "armor" scripture. It deals with self esteem issues. it's no where near as popular as the one I mentioned in my last post. What you ignore in these cases are people who tell you that you are worthless etc. and try to hurt you because they themselves have poor self esteem. Your ability to evaluate (social) information stems from a deep understanding of who you are and your value as a person. It never occurred to me to teach my children to be ignorant. I always encouraged them to question and I did the evil thing...I made sure they understood that Creationism was bogus. Perhaps that's why they aren't cf's. I taught them the self esteem thing. So when the guys and gals at Creation.com or AIG get their hate mail it’s also because the unbelievers are jealous of their ability to think freely? Or are you trying to have your cake and eat it too?
So who is telling people at AiG that they hope they burn in hell?

Probably nobody considering atheists do not believe in hell, but they do get mail that is equally as disgusting and just as mean spirited. I don't support it on either side of the aisle, but I don't think it has anything to do with jealousy; rather I feel sorry for Richard Dawkins; I do not have any envy for the poor man. |
