Why Won't My Brother Admit He's Gay?

RE: Why Won't My Brother Admit He's Gay?
Lots of good advice here, but I want to add is that coming to terms with homosexuality can be difficult even without Christian beliefs. Some people are quick to accept and some people are in denialmfor most of their lives. Give him time to accept himself despite his religious beliefs, and he will talk to you when he is ready.

Constantly asking him about his sexuality will only push him away. Just stick to telling him that you can tell he is depressed, and that you are worried about him. That will show him that you truly care about him and are not hung up on his sexuality.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

I had lunch with him today... a LONG one. He admitted it.
Thank you everyone for your advice. It really helped. I am going to hold his hand tonight as he comes out to his family, and I have spent the afternoon preparing a room for him at my house. He lives with his mother and grandparents, so we are preparing for the worst. He has an appointment at my clinic tomorrow for counseling. He said he feels better now that he's admitted it out loud.

WOW. That is huge. I hope everything turns out well. You're a great sister Smile
That will never hold up in court...

Thanks. I gave him this long speech, and he just started crying and blurted it out. He's fine, except he is struggling now with his spirituality. He thinks he's going to go to hell because of who he is...

We'll be working on that! We both started laughing through our tears when he said, "I guess if I have to go to hell for this, at least I know you'll be there to keep me company."

Good on him, no point living a lie. He can still be a good christian, if they can cherry pick the bible, so can he.

Yeah, if he ever gets hung up on Leviticus 18:22, just remind him that nobody sacrifices goats at the altar anymore, nor do they worry about eating shellfish or wearing clothes of mixed fibers, all of which are in Leviticus.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

Fucking hell... Half my siblings don't give a shit about me, half my parents don't either, and every cousin, second cousin, aunt, uncle, and left ankled relative from hell couldn't give a rats ass whether I live or die... And even less that I'm depressed.

My expirience? Coming out to an asshole family is stupid. He shouldnt bother

I agree. He wants to, though, so I support his decision.

Then he better be ready for the reality of parents and family disliking or ignoring him for years and possibly the rest of his life.

I'd rather know if my parents are d'bags instead of living a lie. If they love an unprovable book more than flesh and blood, they are not worth knowing.

If my kids want to bum men, so fucking what, i'd still love them and support them. I'd even egg them on with well placed 'give him one from me son.'
