True, but I'm not asking for a disease or mental condition to be healed from someone who's had extensive training in treating it, I'm talking about marriage counseling from someone who has no clue and likely has had no training at all other than what a bunch of other supposedly celibate old men have told him. Again, would you ask someone for advice on skydiving if they'd never done it themselves? They can only describe what others have told them it's like, but they don't know firsthand.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

Well, priests haven't always been celibate. One might argue that priests as a whole have never been celibate. It's a doctrinal issue regarding emulating the supposed life of christ, and having nothing (such as a wife or children) between god, yourself, and the people. Sort of a way to screen for conflicts of interest, so the doctrine goes. It is also thought of as a gift given to those called to the priesthood (see, they know it's damn near impossible and so invoke god).

Celibacy is common in many mystical traditions, a classification which the priesthood of the RCC would definitely qualify for.

You say you believe in the Bible. Do you believe in the following?
god
creation
virgin birth
miracles
dying and then coming alive again
Questions to which I have difficulty answering .. because I also have my doubts to my religion. But I can say that the Bible, to me, is a book that shows some knowledge of life, values and principles .. of our faith.
God exists within us .. there is always present in us.
And I'd like to believe in the resurrection ..

The force is not so strong with this one. We shall no doubt turn her to the dark side!

Deists are atheists who are afraid to let go with the other hand.
I understand what you're going through. I was raised catholic, too. I was 11 before I started to realize that those people were full of shit.

Sorry SS but if you say you believe in the Bible, all the things I list are fundamental I would have thought: the book is God's word;
God created the world in 7 days; the christ child was born to a virgin;
christ performed miracles; christ died then came alive again....and then ascended to heaven.
Forgive me but I don't see how you can claim belief in the Bible without belief in these things incredible.
Also, I would have thought your faith means nothing without absolute belief in the resurrection.
A man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?
