I am most certainly not avoiding the scriptures. What I strive to do is look at them in the context of how, when and where they were written, include what we can definitely observe and have evidence for and try to resolve that to be as close to the truth as my fallible and non-divine mind will allow. I will not close my ears and eyes to inconvenient evidence, just so I can continue in a flawed belief. Otherwise, you're just another flat-earther, irrelevant and no closer to truth and God.
I accept I may be wrong, exactly as I say that we all are fallible, even the authors of the Bible. It concerns me when people insist there is no possibility that they or their theories could be wrong in ANY way. Not just the arrogance of that position but more the atrocities people commit when they are THAT certain, especially on religious matters!

It's funny how Jesus is always just around the corner.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Well, how do you decide the point at which you suspend your skepticism? If any of the ideas or events described in the bible are open to review, then how can we avoid reviewing the central claim? The existence of said god itself. What metrics do you use to judge a miracle as "okay" or "unreasonable"?
(appears very much to be a christian with a deists view of god Frodo, surprise surprise, his religion is exactly as valid as your own. Hell, maybe more so, he's discarding foolish claims)
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I may have crossed threads but I thought I had already explained that the faulted was my misunderstanding the meaning of deist. I had, for years, thought it merely meant someone who believes in God. My bad!

Please explain what atrocities I've committed, the difference between us is that you do not believe that scripture is divinely inspired and I do. So we should say that we agree to disagree. So why do you think I believe that the earth is flat or where the scriptures say it's flat, be careful know, because I do not believe that you can show me. I am certain that God is who He says He is and I'm certain that He exist, are you absolutely certain. I'm also certain that the Bible is the authentic Word of God.

Life's short and everyone will soon know the answers, as for me I already do, no doubts and no worries.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
