The above statement is an admission of defeat.

Anything that exists can be tested for scientifically.

If you cant even think of a way to test for something then, chances are, it is nonexistant.

Lets face it, you only believe in god because you want there to be a god and this colours what you see around you and blinds you to the fact the fact that that there is no god or gods and never has been.

Norfolk. There is no reason for you to exist, but you do...

Poor argument.

I exist for the same reason as every other complex life form. To reproduce.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Reproduction is not a reason as such. If you want to take that philosophical step then an equally valid argument could be "God exists because he was necessary to start the universe". The philosophical argument has nothing to do with any scientific argument because it is completely untestable. You disagree with me on points of philosophy but don't add sloppy skepticism to a list of potential disagreements.

RE: Subsequent truths
Why, because you say so? Seems that life has plugged along quite well with reproduction being it's main focus. In fact, it's only focus. Perhaps you don't get the warm feeling out of this that you get out of god. You're asking for purpose, which is subjective. At least Norfolk there invoked some part of reality as part of his purpose. This is no way similar to some "necessity of a first cause" claim(why must god always be the cause in these word droppings btw?).
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Young children about 4 years old start to assign purpose to things.

We breathe the air so the air is there for us to breathe.

We drink water so the water is there for us to drink.

looking for purpose is an infantile way to view the universe.

Things dont have a purpose they just are.

In before he argues for man made objects with a purpose as though they had anything to say about the necessity of "purpose".

RE: Subsequent truths
That is exactly why assigning a purpose is a philosophical argument, not a scientific one. Life has gone on happily for eons without us knowing its purpose and continually trying to determine what it might be, if there is one. As far as science is concerned, Monty Python's Meaning of Life is just as valid as any religious doctrine. The fact that we seek answers to questions that we cannot currently answer is something that has driven human discovery and knowledge; it should be encouraged. Saying "we don't need it so I won't bother considering it" would have stifled all manner of creative thinking and scientific discovery.
I have an idea that cannot currently be tested in its entirety. It may be testable at some stage in the future. It includes all evidence based observation and theories. It adapts as more accurate information and more complete theories are developed. It does not adhere rigidly to any dogma. It does not preclude further study. I see that as sensible.

I know everyone will have different ideas, even if they are in the same congregation, swearing blind to the same faith. I am not an apologist for blind faith, religious intolerance or scientific ignorance. It's just that there are some things we can measure and some things we can't.... yet. When I teach, I will try to impose "2+2=4" mathematics in school because it has been verified time after time and is accepted as fact. I won't impose my faith because it is a decision I have come to based on my experiences, feelings etc. I will defend my position and discuss my reasoning, but because it is something that can't be measured, I think people should examine any evidence themselves and come to their own conclusion. That conclusion may be ridiculous but if it was truly arrived at with proper considerations and doesn't rely on flawed or entirely false evidence, it is just as valid as my opinion until there is evidence to separate them.

Yes, we should continue looking and searching. That has nothing to do with what you're proposing. This rock has been lifted, countless times. Every time we look we find the same thing under the rock, human beings. You seem intent on extending respect to the god proposition though it is not warranted, nor has it bore any fruit of any kind. No explanatory power. It isn't science, it isn't philosophy. It's argument for the sake of argument as a smokescreen for the absurdity of a "reasoned faith".

It is not a "fact", though it is universally "accepted". A fact can be proven, but an axiom cannot, it is accepted as a 'truth', not a 'fact'. It is an axiom through which mathematics is developed.
