That's what you say, but I seem to understand what the word 'rapture' means, while you seem to have no idea whatsoever.

Quote:You still have not shown me the word rapture in scripture, I doubt you even know what some christians mean by rapture, you should learn more about christianity before you try to dismiss it. What you have shown is the second coming and it has nothing to do with what some christians say about the rapture. After the second coming that's it, no more chances, judgement is on.

aleialoura Wrote:That's because 'rapture' is an English word, used to describe Jesus coming back, and taking all his believers with him back to Heaven. Get it? The bible wasn't written in English. No such word exists in Hebrew. The fact that you need that explained to you, and that you claim I have trouble understanding things is amusing.

Info for you, the NT was written in Greek not Hebrew. There is no word for rapture in Greek to my knowledge and since the word rapture is not in scripture then tell me where is it's relevance to scriptures. Some christians believe that Christ will return and take all the believers (the church) out of the world before the tribulation. With this kind of reasoning Christ would have to return a third time and no where in scripture is that mentioned, the believers (church) will go through the tribulation, there is no mention of the church being rapture before the tribulation.

aleiloura Wrote:I spent my entire childhood in Sunday school, and I have actually read the bible. I was a christian for most of my life, so I understand perfectly well the details of christianity. The second coming and "the rapture" are mutually exclusive because that is the reason Jesus is coming back- to enrapture the believers, and send the nonbelievers to an eternal lake of fire.

Why did you give up your christian life? You know that reading the Bible and studying it are quite different. You are correct about the second coming, however as I explained above the supposed rapture and the second coming are two different things.

aleiloura Wrote:You say "some christians" as if there are some christians who believe the wrong thing, and I know you believe that, because I have witnessed you express those opinions. How do you know you're the right kind of christian? Who is to judge? I thought that was your god's job, but you seem to presume yourself qualified. Does Jesus know you're making his decisions for him?

They are as I explained above. A study of scripture shows us they are wrong, that's why I harp about studying scripture and not just reading the Bible. One must take all relevant passages on a subject and study what is being said, those who do not (I'm speaking of christians) find that others will mislead them because those others want to make scripture say what they want it to, more of a feel good thing in my opinion. As far as myself being the right kind of christian, all I know to say is I try to live as God would have me to and I'm sure I do that poorly. God is the Judge. I state what I know about scripture, I study scripture and see where some are wrong. Do I know all things about scripture not hardly, have lots and lots to learn, that's why I continue to study under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

That is your interpretation or opinion. Muslims think the same of their religion. They 'study' their book which says you are wrong.

Of course, I/we say you are all wrong. Regardless of the acceptable quality of my/our evidence, at least I/we have some.

NAC Wrote:It would be a miracle. Bring it on.

Also, what is wrong with eliminating faith in god in favour of proving god through such a miracle? god seemingly exists just for us to worship him, that wouldn't change...

OK let's look at this in a different way, you believe the NT is a bunch of fairytales, if this is so why would the writers not have included such things as amputees having their limbs restored. There are stories about shriveled limbs being restored, the dead raised from death, paraplegics made to walk and ect. Don't you think they would have mentioned a restored limb that was missing, this would have been very convincing evidence, evidence that so many seem to need and that is why amputees do not have their limbs restored, God requires faith to come to know Him. Through faith one comes to know God in a personal way, that's how He wants it to be and it is His decision.

Quote:God does not necessarily grow back these parts on animals, it is a biological condition for these animals

NAC Wrote:I see, how can YOU differentiate between biological and god given? See that question is easy for me because in my realm only biological exists. For you, you've got an either or dilemma.

No dilemma for me God created this into these animals, God setup this biological condition.

Quote:get real God doesn't desire the worship of animals as those you mentioned

NAC Wrote:How do you KNOW with such certainty to say "get real"? Don't tell me it says so in that book.

There's more than one way to know, the best way, God does not say anything about animals worshiping Him, the scriptures are directed at mankind and man is the one who God gave a soul. Christ came to die for man not animals, read the scriptures it's easy to see, so easy you do not need to study them to determine this.

Quote:and you can't know or not know if these animals know there is a God

NAC Wrote:I love it. You claim to know god doesn't require the worship of salamanders, then immediately claim I can't know if salamanders know there's a god (a quick guess from me - no they wouldn't)

Well I do not know if they do, I would guess they do not. Knowing God exist and worshiping God are two different things.....apples and oranges.

You can claim knowledge and I can't. That sums you up. Arrogant as well as deluded. And you're a child of god? Hahahahahahahahahaha!

Bring it. I'd die laughing if you were refused the golden ticket because you are a nasty piece of work, and I ascended just because I was a good boy.

See, god will look after good people and belief in him does not necessarily qualify you as a good person, only as a believer. Obviously I just made it all up, but it looks good, seems much more moral, and I'll bet you it's just as likely as your version to be the truth.

Not worried about the first part of your reply, ain't going to happen. There is nothing hidden in this statement so don't try to find one.

The second part is no better than the first, in God's eye no one is good, only through Christ are we saved.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is pure crack-smokin' wackery, brought to you by the deluded folks who believe in the anthology of myths, parables and legends dreamt up, written down, collated, emended and edited by the hand of men and otherwise called the bible.

Your god discriminates too. (note to self: add to list.)

If this blood thirsty heathen you admire so much has such a debilitating need for worship from his creations, how do you know the animals do not also have souls? If not, then why did he not give them souls, so that he could torture, threaten and demand their worship also to satisfy his craving?

Seems like my last two post need to be answered by others because they thought they could do a better job than aleialoura and NAC. Could be that aliealoura and NAC feel the same I do not know. What I do know is that the ones who have responded have shown their total ignorance to the subjects at hand. Actually I believe they need to mature in their lives.

Meh, why mature? This veil of tears, GC, will soon be lifted. Honestly though there's more than a little irony in this comment coming from an adult that never moved beyond imaginary friends.

Well, if we're airing our feelings, GC, I feel you need to get your head checked, because the shit you spout is nonsense.

I'm still wondering, 15 pages later, why we needed to invoke "subsequent truths" in the first place? Garden variety "truth" wasn't sturdy enough for someone's purposes?
