It is a giant sloth! Cool as fuck.

Looks like a bunch of rocks to me. Megafauna was pretty sweet wasn't it..lol.

Believe they figure he was a ground sloth. The question isn't "could he climb" more like "how many trees would it take to support his weight", lol. Just imagine, for a moment, the terror one might feel when this thing reared up (despite it being an herbivore).
