This forum, imo, has better serious discussions than my home forum, but the other has a richer selection of frivolities, in my experience.

That's amazing. Most atheists I know are ex-Christians or ex-something-or-other. Do they belittle ex-Wiccans or do they have a double standard for ex-Christians? Or are they trying to alienate 80% of the atheists out there?

If anything, I have more respect for the ex-religion atheists because they escaped indoctrination. Any idiot can be an atheist with no background in religious indoctrination. It takes a really critical thinker to throw off indoctrination.

Even those who retain their religion, I can't imagine belittling them unless they remain willfully ignorant or refuse to listen, especially if this willful ignorance is combined with a pompous attitude. That's when I break out the word "fucktard".

And I agree with the sentiment that this is a great place to exchange thoughts and virtually hang out.

No, they weren't "anti-Wicca" per se. But after an introduction there (at Brand X) they were decidedly anti-me: humiliating attacks, vicious name calling, all kinds of stuff. It's not like I went in preaching the Gospel according to Goddess either. Just "Hi howareya, my wife suggested I come here and check it out, this is stuff about me . . ." pa-yeow! Right between the eyes.

Like other places about any other subject on the WWW, there are people of all opinions, stripes, polka-dots, and ad nauseums. But just a "Hi I'm new here and checking you out" almost ensured I never tried again.

Fortunately the folk here are much nicer. And patient, generally.

I haven't been banned from christian forums yet. I don't post all that much though. I am on a couple of other forums, but this one is the one in which I am most involved. Love (most of) the people and the discussions always get me thinking, which is something I value above all else.

I have never seen fit to enter any Christian forum (I'm not a masochist). I do have an account on WitchVox.

This forum gets me thinking, also. Anything that gets me thinking at all is probably a good exercise for my brain cell.

Meh. Theologyweb.com is worth a look if you want to walk on the wild side. I don't agree with some of their policies, but it's a well traveled forum, with a decent amount of diversity, and folks are generally pretty tolerant. Like Ally, I don't spend much time away from home, and I find my forum time being outcompeted for other tasks as it is, but if you want a taste, that's a good place to try. I also rather liked JREF forums, but don't spend any time there either.

Kichi and I had a similar experience with another atheist forum.
We both noticed that anyone who veered from the party line even in the slightest just got banned.

Then Kichi got a two week ban merely for disagreeing with another member , No warning, nothing.

So we decided it wasn't worth our time.

BTW we were already members here, but we enjoy the atmosphere.
