Perhaps I misunderstood the tone of this thread. I thought we were having a bit of fun and I was jokingly asking the sorts of questions a Christian might ask an atheist.

The fact is I am a lifelong atheist.

By the way: Do we have a "tongue in cheek" emoticon? I think I could make use of it.

Seeing that you're an atheist, thus implying that questions regarding gods and deities are a bit silly. Why ask questions about nothing? (rhetorical question)

What I'd ask is simple...

How are you doing?

Athesim is not a system of belief, but rather a single answer to a single question. It is the designation applied by theists to those who do not share their assumption that a god/deity exists. - MoS

That! Such a great answer! Why have I never thought to say that?

"Sisters, you know only the north; I have traveled in the south lands. There are churches there, believe me, that cut their children too, as the people of Bolvangar did--not in the same way, but just as horribly. They cut their sexual organs, yes, both boys and girls; they cut them with knives so that they shan't feel. That is what the Church does, and every church is the same: control, destroy, obliterate every good feeling. So if a war comes, and the Church is on one side of it, we must be on the other, no matter what strange allies we find ourselves bound to."

What do you believe is better: to be happy but living in an illusion or know the truth and be miserable?

Silly, bullshit comparison. Another silly christian.

I'll take option c) know the truth and be happy.

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Is that a question atheists ask, Emanuel? That sounds like a question a theist would ask an atheist. The question presents a false dichotomy.

Seems like an Atheist without money.

Yes, it's kinda off topic since it's a question from me to you. No, it's not a trap. I was just curious.

And there are only those two options. Is the truth preferable even though that particular truth will make your life more miserable or is it better to believe a lie yet be very happy and content?

Which particular truth are you talking about? You haven't defined the subject so cannot say knowing the truth would make you more miserable. Nor can you say that believing a lie makes you more happy.

It's a stupid question until you make it less vague.
