(This post was last modified: February 25, 2012 at 4:37 pm by Smitty.)
Had the same problem.
Well, I've tried repeatedly, varying things, and have no more patience. Too bad; interesting members and hosts, but a clunky site program. Hope this gets worked out.
Well, I tried once more and succeeded in pasting my post as a PM to one member.
This is strange!

There is a "Preview" button. Use it before posting. Alternatively, if you see your post come up blank, edit it immediately and make sure all the quote tags match up.

I'm pretty sure I did all that. Why does the site have such a problem dealing with quotes? I haven't encountered such a thing before, tho' admittedly I am comparatively unevolved as regards computer skills and experience.

It isn't the site..it is the user...go check your quote tags AGAIN!!

Smitty, Tiberius and the other admins are working on fixing a few bugs in the site. One of them is that if a single quote tag is off in some way, your post can disappear. It's unfortunate, but all it requires is to hit "edit --> quick edit" and run through your post again to find the missing backslash or bracket or misspelled "quote". Therefore, it's partially the site and partially user error. It happens to a lot of us. It's no big deal.
If you're having a lot of trouble, just message an admin or moderator and we'll be happy to help you. If you happen to be responding to a very long post, I find it's helpful to create my post in Microsoft Word or the like first and then copy the whole thing when I'm done into the reply box. This way I can review all of my formatting and quoting tags.

I just said *I* found it helpful. You don't have to if you don't want to. The post box is narrow for my tastes. Do what you like. I was merely making a suggestion.

If you look at the lower right corner of the text box for replying, if there is an icon (like a triangle or arrow), you can drag the box to a bigger size.
