Some people even go around after death and converting them to their religion. I think Mormons do that (part of my family are Mormons, though I have no idea if they do that or not)
It doesn't hurt anything, but I think it's ridiculous to push a lifestyle on anyone. Let them make their own choices in life. Don't make the choices for them.
The original Christians held baptisms for the dead.
