Are you a proponent of big government?  What civic lesson would that teach the kids?  That they are the property of the government bureaucrats?

Yes, because it's sooo much better to leave then in a toxic environment that will forever doom them to a life of abject poverty and suffering.

Have you seen the Detroit schools?  The worst home school is probably better than the best Detroit school.
