I sometimes like to cut to the chase with these things by asking why I should care even if there is a god. What difference should it make to me?

I don't get a lot of coherent responses. This is what I generally get:

"You should worship it!"

Me: No thanks. I'm not looking for things to throw myself in front of.

"You should do what God wants!"

Me: If it wants to come talk to me sensibly, we can discuss what it wants and why. I don't deal with lackeys. If it needs your help, I'm not too concerned that he's of any relevance.

"You will be sorry if you don't join my religion!"

Me: Ah. Some honesty at last. You are scared, so I should be scared too. I'm not scared. I'm not interested in religions, especially death cults. If God is an evil dick that will punish me for not worshipping it, I can't trust such a being to stick to its word anyway. So you can keep your religion thanks, I'm doing just fine.
