Cavalry is derived from the French word for horse...not helicopter.
Infantry has a much more obscure derivation - coming from the Italian for "boys."
So what ever we have corrupted the terms into now, their original historical meaning is cavalry = horsemen and infanty - foot soldiers.
Deal with it.
Yes, Shel. Just as the dragoons were mounted infantry who got to ride to a battle and then dismount. There is nothing new under the sun.
