Quote:Are you really saying that the wars in iraq and afghanistan are because "god told bush to do it" and it had nothing to do with the terrorist attacks perpitrated on the world trade center and the pentagon

Gee,I hope not, that's a very naive perception, which Rythmn is not.

The invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with Bush's idiotic religosity OR the 9/11 attacks. There was one and only one reason;it was in the US' perceived best interest at the time.

My comment 'how very Christian 'was an appropriate response to a post dripping with smug self righteousness.
Man is not so much a rational animal as a rationalising one.

No, you weren't, and yes, you do. When you go about fanatasing with regards to the punishment you wish/hope/desire for god to enact upon those you see as evil you are merely expressing your own inner tyrant with god supplied as a front. You see, this whole god business allows us to indulge in the shittiest parts of ourselves whilst simultaneously washing our hands of the matter. You wish, hope, and believe that people will be burnt, but you won't so much as bring the match when offered the chance. That's the "better" part of your nature curbing those lesser demons of the mind, one of which being your god.

On the plus side, none of it has any bearing on reality (so long as this little imp of yours stays trapped betwixt your ears, where it belongs), and I wouldn't condemn you in reality for thought crimes. Fell free to weave as elaborate and gruesome a narrative as is required by whatever part of you desires it, but lets call a spade a spade eh?
