This is EXACTLY the atheist stand on god. We assert that we do not believe god exists but we do not deny the possibility.
There is a possibility that anything you can imagine is possible.The problem here is that possibility and likelihood are two very different things. All current evidence point to the likelihood that neither god nor unicorns exist. However, that does not mean their existence is not possible.

I'm not saying that I believe unicorns never existed, that's where you misunderstand my position. If anything, I'd be a unicorn agnostic. My problem is that I don't think a unicorn deserves myth status. I think it's highly probable that a one-horned beast existed.

Well then we have a problem with definition because a one horned beast is not necessarily a unicorn. For instance, we have one horned beasts in the wild and in our zoos. We call them rhinoceri.
So let's first define unicorn and then we can talk about the possibility of it having existed.

I had said earlier "species of some horse or predecessor".
Would you allow perhaps a deer or mule to fit that discription too?
