We really can't tell you that. I've known married people with kids where one was religious and the other one was atheist and they were fine. I've known others that divorced rather than have kids and deal with the religious divide.

Your situation would be unique. I don't see how any of us could predict it.

It would be better to try and find someone who shares your own view on the matter. It would make life much more simple for you.
Everything I needed to know about life I learned on Dagobah.

Thank you! All I asked was some sort of comforting advice that there might still be hope even when you are with someone of the religious sort. Nevertheless I didn't ask for anyone to predict, just share their experience. Saying just blatantly "look elsewhere", like most people did in this thread, is like giving up.

Are you already in a relationship with someone who is religious?

The most important factor would probably be how hardcore they are about it if so.

Yes I am, problem is you can't really define how hardcore one is because, in my experience, mediocre theists don't really want to talk about this and/or keep their ears shut. The main problem comes onto the scene when it gets serious and parents (and their beliefs) get in the way.

Well, I can't remember if I replied here or not, but here goes...
My atheist self is married to a catholic girl, we've had 3 kids and, after.... damn... more than 10 years putting up with her, we're still at it!
She goes to her ritual every Sunday, I complain about it every now and then... not too much, just enough, when that ritual conflicts with some more important task.
She doesn't care much about my atheism and lets me be...
I let her her baptize the kids and take them to sunday school... while I answer truthfully when they ask me if I believe that god exists... and then ask them back! Wink

So yes, it is possible... it's all in how permissive you're willing to be... and her too.
Life as couple has very little to do with belief in a sky-daddy.

Thank you too. Was it easy for you and your ethics/beliefs to allow/ignore the baptizing and sunday schooling of your children?

Baptizing was a once in a lifetime thing... Heck, I was baptized when I was 6 months old and it didn't do any harm... permanent, at least.. in fact, it made the marriage process a bit easier, as it could be done in a church, just like she wanted... another once in a lifetime event, just make her happy and get on with it.

Sunday schooling is different... I'm not very comfortable with it, but I know it only takes a sprinkle of doubt to undo the damage they do in there, so... meh. The condition I imposed is simple: just don't waste my time with that ridiculous thing. She takes and brings the kids from that school and from mass.

Plus... I think she likes me! Wink

For some reason I always seem to go after real Christian chicks because they tend to be crazy, and I like a little crazy. There was definitely not ever really a chance for a long term thing, but they were fun while they lasted. Had a couple that tried to convert me or get me to go to their church.

Some of my previous companions had the idea that in due time, I would see the "truth" and accept their "lord". And most of em were certain about this for some reason. Either that or they used to say that I am a christian but I don't know it yet. Undecided

eHarmony helped me to find a wife that was okay with my smoking habit, my dirty language, and my a-religious persuasion. Dating sites are the meeting grounds of the future, and the future is now.

I'm sure there are a lot of closet atheists in Greece. I met a lot of them during my stay in Crete Wink Just don't shy away from talking about religion with women, and you might end up pleasantly surprised.
