The volume that this statement spoke was far greater than the number of words used.

I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

Yeah I knew it was a big statement when I wrote it. Isn't that what all people do though? Everyone follows one belief or another and that is kept untill a better one comes along.
Mark Taylor: "Religious conflict will be less a matter of struggles between belief and unbelief than of clashes between believers who make room for doubt and those who do not."

Einstein: “The most unintelligible thing about nature is that it is intelligible”

To lie with a man as you lie with a woman is simply a reference to having sex with someone of the same sex. Everyone is trying to bring the bible up to date by interpreting things in it that did not really apply at the time that it was written. All that does is add more confusion to a book that is rife with contradiction and subject to human interpretations from different time periods whose mindset was completely different from ours today.

Actually... the 'as you lie with a woman' is what makes the sentence ridiculous in itself. If they just said: if a man lieth with a man, he has committed an act against nature... then it would be saying that having sex with someone of the same sex is a crime against nature. However, you absolutely cannot lie with a man as you would a woman: it is simply not possible.

I understand the authors original intent... however: a literal interpretation would have to conclude what I just 'concluded'. Not saying that interpretation is right or wrong... but it is yet another interpretation of the bible. No more moronic than any of the others Tongue

Edit: deleted a y off of man Tongue Otherwise that could look weird Tongue

Lol but if they took out the as you lie with a woman part then all the poetry would be gone from the stupid statement to begin with.

You constantly criticize Sae but I don't think I've once seen you substantiate anything. Is that true?

I meant for your criticisms of beliefs. I agree you do substantiate your points on other subjects, but as this is our focus here...
