Wow, only 67% of democrats? Seems pretty low for a progressive party...

Well I admit I don't know much about politics in the USA, but I've always thought they were pretty much the progressive counterpart to the conservative republicans... but again, I'm European, I might as well be oversimplifying the situation.

Pretty much, it happened by default. Although, the likes of Elizabeth Warren would not have found success in the Democratic party until recently.
There are far fewer progressive Democrats than I'd like, but on the other side of the aisle, all you have is a civil war between people who want to drag America back to the Gilded Age and people who want to drag America back to the Bronze Age.

The Democrats are hardly a progressive party. You'll find like a handful of actual, consistent lefties in our legislature. Fox "News", the Republican party and the like have managed to shift the conversation to the right, and continue to do so continuously. It's just crazy here...
