Oh, and fuck Jesus.

Ignored for not adressing anything I said.

I expected language, I'm sorry for expecting respect.

Fuck me, sweet Jesus, if you think this is what scientific theory actually claims, please, feel free to go reinsert your head up your ass.

I know there are processes involved. Please don't assume that because I didn't say something, I don't know it.

For instance, I don't believe that an explosion of nothing...

No, you don't understand.

Only YEC proponents ever say an explosion of nothing in reference to the birth of the universe.

No scientists make that claim.

Okay, so an "explosion of nothing" is incorrect. But whatever did explode, where did that come from? And whatever created that, where did that come from?

If you've read anything about evolution, you'd know it's happenING. Also, atheism means a lack of belief in deities. It says nothing about science. But, screw it. There's nothing to discuss here, really. Mental masturbation, maybe?

I meant, if the evolution that created the left we see today happened. I was referring to evolution of the past. Also, I didn't feel like saying "evolutionists" twenty times. I'm sorry.

I would like to see pictures of these fossils.

Also, there a several million different kinds of creatures on this planet. The lack of transitional fossils showing the evolution of these creatures is, in my opinion, a small bit of evidence against evolution. You don't think so. I do. Our arguments cancel out.

Hi Spage, I read your entire thing and wonder what the atheists could possibly say?
And I am not one of them. Kind of looks like a mission statement to me.

Your'e probably right. I assumed that, presented with civility, they could be civil in return.
I'm new around here.

I suppose if there actually IS anything to truly say regarding my post, odds are the person who would think to say it isn't going to read it. Oh well.

Quote: why I'm a Christian

Why I bet you were born into it.

Quote:If we had opened our eyes to the light under the shadows of St. Peter's at Rome, we should have been devout Catholics; born in the Jewish quarter of Aleppo, we should have contemned Christ as an imposter; in Constantinople, we should have cried "Allah il Allah, God is great and Mahomet is his prophet!" Birth, place, and education give us our faith. Few believe in any religion because they have examined the evidences of its authenticity, and made up a formal judgment, upon weighing the testimony. Not one man in ten thousand knows anything about the proofs of his faith. We believe what we are taught; and those are most fanatical who know least of the evidences on which their creed is based.

An argument based upon no study, as well as relateable to both atheists and Christians. There are ignorant and well-informed members of both parties that were born in one and are now in the other.

Respect isn't something you have an automatic right to. It is something that has to be earned. Your first post on the forums was a lengthy description of your opinion on evolution, something you clearly don't understand in the first place. Why should we respect you or your opinion when you are blabbering about something you haven't bothered to learn the facts of in the first place?

If you'll notice, I never demanded repsect. I said I hoped I would receive it, but wasn't sure I'd get it. Never did I demand respect. Also, what have I said that suggests I don't remotely understand evolution? Also, I have no reason why you should give me respect; if you don't want to, don't. Although, I don't need to tell you that do I?

Nah. I've been running into dumb-shit theists all my life. I'd say Pike has you fuckers nailed pretty well.

I bet you think all the other gods that mankind has created are false but your god is real, don't you?

RE: My take on Life
To come someplace new and automatically demand respect is sort of silly. I am new here, and even though I'm an atheist, I still would expect to put in some time, properly and coherently argue some points, and then maybe some people will come to expect certain things from me. Respect is earned, not given, as the saying goes.

Also, your post was extremely defensive and dismissive. Why be surprised when you get what you expected? There are many people on here with all sorts of beliefs. Those that come here with the intent to proselytize don't get treated well, those that come here and post statements with no intent on discourse don't get treated well, but those that come here with questions they are honestly willing to have an intelligent conversation about actually get treated pretty well.

But remember where you are. This is a forum for atheists. You came here, posted this diatribe, and asked us not to try to change your mind. That is patently ridiculous.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
