Smug satisfaction is, sadly, not confined to theists. I know a few atheists who exhibit the exact same behaviour. Dodgy

The flaw in your question is asking why WE need God. Lots of people don't. But some do.

Which is why I'm asking you and not somebody else. Why do you YOU need god. I want clarification of the points.

And I want a blow job off Anne Hathaway. Life's a bitch.

Fine fine, in deference to rule one, pick one and I'll expand. I'm not going to write you an essay.

I want clarification on all of em but here is the priority order do as many as you can.

Believing in him makes them behave better
Believing in him stops them being scared
Believing in him makes people happy
Believing in him makes them feel important
Believing in him means they can be part of a social group
Believing in him makes them feel confident about their place in the universe

I didn't say smug satisfaction was confined to theists, just that theists need god to make them smugly satisfied that they have all the answers. in contrast, and for the sake of argument, atheists dont need god to be smugly satisfied.

True enough. Some atheists contrive to be smugly satisfied that they never contracted or felt the need to believe in God.

1. At a certain point in my life I suffered from extremely low self esteem. As it often will, this manifested in self destructive behavior, inevitable consequences and a vicious spiral. This was the point at which I had my religious experience, which introduce the idea that God, the creator of the universe took a personal interest in me and indeed valued me highly. This caused me to stop many of the destructive behaviors, which in turn caused better outcomes, which in turn caused higher self esteem etc. In this way, a belief in an involved, interested and benevolent God improved my behaviour and life generally very considerably.

I was.

Now, it would seem, I'm not.

Our very life comes from the Lord. We live in Him and He dwells in us. The Lord gives us both will and reason. For someone to think he does not need God is like thinking people don't need air to breath.

So essentially you were an attention whore/ spoilt brat who wanted daddy's undivided attention? And now you are a grown man able to stand on your own two feet and meet reality head on?
