Where's the line between atheist and oppressor?

While there may have been atheist leaders who oppressed people, they didn't have a book that commanded them to kill everyone that didn't conform to their beliefs.

You're either a troll, or quite ignorant. The ONLY thing atheism is, is the non belief in a deity. Aside from that, atheists run the gamut between a generous, law abiding citizen, and a dictator that doesn't worship any gods.

To be able of having non-belief in a deity, there must be one, right?

Can you have non-belief in a deity if the deity does not exist? I find it kind of weird going around claiming not to believe in something which does not exist.

The point of atheists seems to be of a contradicting belief. You are the strangers upon this earth. God created this earth and your butt. Everything on earth is created by God and is His. It's not my problem if he kills you just because you don't behave. If you ever cared about your life anyway.

Daniel 9;9 The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him;

I suppose all deities are real, then? Zeus, Odin, Osiris, their pantheons, and so forth and so on? Vampires, unicorns, elves, dwarves, centaurs, dragons? Because I don't believe they exist either.

Honestly how can you say not believing something exists means it must exist? Those are some nice claims that the bible makes. Now bring us proof, and we can begin worshiping. Also it would be great if you could bring proof that all the other gods aren't as powerful as yours.

Your god isn't the only god people have worshiped. he's not even the first one. He started out as the lesser war god of a canaanite/babylonian pantheon, graduated to a monotheistic religion about 3,000 years ago, had two offshoot religions, and people are still debating on his existence, or what the one true path is.

You guys don't seem to be closer to knowing exactly what your god wants than you did thousands of years ago.

This thread got a lot of posts quickly. I responded to something back on page 2, and this is page 8.

I've got the impression atheists not only reject the reality of God, they are busy with oppressing those who do believe too.

We all know Jesus said to pray for those who do bad to you.

Criticism is not oppression.

This is to oppress: to burden with cruel or unjust impositions or restraints; subject to a burdensome or harsh exercise of authority or power.

There's no line between atheist and oppressor or theist and oppressor. You're an oppressor if you oppress. Your mere atheism or mere theism don't enter into it. It takes more than an opinion on whether God exists or not to make someone an oppressor. And it takes more than pointing out flaws and hypocricies to make a tiny minority and oppressor of a vast majority.

Is there a contest concerning who can say the most stupid, inane thing of which I'm unaware? Do you think there must be a Darth Vader in order to have a non-belief in the reality of Darth Vader? I don't even need to have heard of Darth Vader not to believe in him.

Can you have a non-belief in Santa Clause if Santa Clause doesn't exist? Does not believing in Krishna mean Krishna exists? I mean really, this argument is so abysmal it sounds like something made up to make theists sound stupid.

You might feel differently if you lived in a country where most people believed in magical unicorns and wanted public school textbooks to reflect that belief, and would not vote for someone who didn't believe in magical unicorns and would try to stop their kid from marrying someone who doesn't believe in magical unicorns. You might feel that someone needs to point out that not everyone believes in magical unicorns. Even if you wouldn't, I'd like to think you'd have enough empathy to get why someone else might.

That's your claim. I don't believe you. Even if it were true, it's not something you are in a position to know.

For it to be your problem, you would have to be capable of caring about what happens to people you disagree with.

To the best of my knowledge, it's the only one I'll ever have, so I value it highly.

Are you a muslim yet? Dodgy

P.S. Can you follow your own reasoning?

Can you recognize your own reasoning when it's reflected back to you? Evidently not.

We don't believe in ANY gods - not just yours.

There's no "reality" of god. There's a claim of a god.

Opression? Seriously?

There's finally a pushback on your ability to oppose your religion on everyone else and that's oppression?

Examples, please.

No, there are claims that the Jesus character said such things.

Anything else you want to claim for us to debunk?
