In Russian it's not a crime to be gay, it's a crime to propagate homosexual lifestyle to minors of 18 years old. It is still discriminatory, but there's no comparison between that and for instance Uganda.

Uganda isn't hosting any world cups any time soon. Bottom line is, Russian policy is anti-gay and clearly against spreading information on being gay. It actively suppresses homosexuality and promotes a society that is discriminatory and intolerant of it. People need to stop making excuses and start calling out intolerance for what it is.

Quote:If homosexuals are persecuted inside Russia that's another problem, even with liberal laws people can get persecuted if the whole society doesn't like them.

They are being persecuted by the very nature of the laws. It's illegal to spread information about homosexuality. That's oppression plain and simple.

But FIFA in its infinite wisdom, just like the Olympics committee (or whatever they're called) don't give a fuck.

Ofcourse, but when he was around and actually boxing he was smarter than virtually every other sports personality on the planet.

Ali is intelligent and he brought excitement and interest back into the heavyweight category. I see him from time to time. His head quivers constantly. His daughter went into boxing and was doing well a few years ago, but I don't follow women's boxing and lost track of her boxing career.

I thought it was a feminist abomination since it involves somewhat effiminate men (in some cases) kicking balls . . .

No surprise to me. Think that's hard. I'm Atheist by (we are all really born Atheists too) choice & gay by birth yet still living in the Bible Belt. You can imagine what that's like for me. I'm an abomination even though that word is from 1350 & wasn't even in the bible not that anything in the bible matters anyway. I think most of it is total rubbish. There are a few common sense things in it but other than a few like do not kill, the bulk is one convoluted mess. I like the website godisimaginary.

I do believe Atheists in the States need to get more organized, raise funds to keep sites like this one going & to try & match all those funds coming in from religious sectors because the religious sectors have huge amounts of money they are using to force a Theocracy on all of us.

I do know, that word "abomination" really is tossed around a lot by christians yet it's not even in the bible. They don't seem to realize it anymore than how evil their god is to have created the bad boy Satan & eternal hell then went ahead & created people knowing if they would go there anyway. lol

Ali lives in Phoenix.

One a year they trot him out for some benefit appearance. The deterioration is evident.

The Russian position on homosexuality is based upon the fact that the Russian population is declining. It needs more babies. They figure that if they can get more people to have more kids they will be able to maintain a strong country. Therefore the spread of homosexuality is a national security issue for them. Their national identity could cease to exist fairly soon unless the trend is reversed.

It seems Ali gets out more than you might think. According to this article he was in France sometime this year and visited Michael Schumacher in the hospital.

Quote:"One day, some months into this business, Muhammad Ali came to see him at the hospital," recalled Hamlyn.

"Ali, who was pretty ill already by then with Parkinson's disease, went up to the end of Michael's bed, said words to the effect of 'Hello champ' and held out his fist.

"Michael's eyes not only opened but focused on him, and this enormous smile appeared across his face as he realized who it was who had come to see him -- and it was at that point that I knew that things went in, got processed and could come out.

"It was at that point that you know that people have the capacity to relearn, and to recover.

"Now, in the world of motor racing I've no idea who Muhammad Ali is -- unless it's Michael Schumacher."

But yea. He looked like shit in London when he was there for the Olympics.

Ohhhhhhhh ...

You meant FUTbol!!

Come on man, you need to clarify with your spelling, you've got Americans on this website. For a moment I thought you were speaking of the amazing time-honored awesome sport of FOOTBALL. You're just talking about boring old soccer.

meh, who cares.
