The thing with shit-and-runners - you've always got the option to not give them the time of day. There's nothing that says everyone has to read or participate in any particular thread.

IOW, once someone has established themselves as a troll, you simply stop giving them any posting love and don't bother with their threads.

I agree. That would be the ideal solution.

I decide there are some people whose posts are not worth reading, and so I don't.

And that would require said member to acknowledge said wairnings.

I disagree. The warning sent via PM can stand for itself. The refusal to even read such a warning is actually more evidence that a pigeon is uninterested in interacting.

Ignorance of the rules is no excuse for violating them; ignoring warnings is no defense against their consequences.

That said, if a dipshit won't post in his own thread, he either got owned or is afraid.

I should make it clear that I will of course read things when it is relevant to my role as a moderator, such as a post being reported, or a PM from a person I usually skip past. I just don't read the posts for fun.

This is the position I take. PM is how the staff communicates warnings. We can't force you to read them, but we do make it bleedingly obvious that you have PMs to read.

You don't want to read the rules? You don't want to acknowledge staff PMs? That's all fine, but you're still bound by them here - and explicitly agreed to when you signed up. Doesn't really matter if you read that, either.

(Obviously I'm using "you" in the general sense here, Thump.

Theist or Heathen - it's just fucking rude.

That is all.

That term needs some degree of definition.

If I snap at a troll who has started another thread after his troll nature has been laid bare, with no intent to accomplish anything other than piss people off, and others are getting pissed off, then you could say it is I who has sunk to being rude. Having no interest in wasting more time on a shit thread, I then move on. Am I in that case guilty of shit-and-run?

If a troll starts up multiple threads which serve no purpose than to piss others off, he may be shit alright, but it's still called "trolling". Most of the trolls I've encountered who do that start up multiple annoying threads, but they don't abandon them, therefore they don't "run". This does not mean their presence is for any purpose than to be the preachy, annoying troll dick!

Therefore, I find this new term "shit and run" pointless, but there is a need to stop pretending that assholes such as Athrock, with his insultingly insincere and pathologically dishonest appeals such as "I hope to start an interesting discussion" is doing anything other than being an obnoxious, insulting troll.
Mr. Hanky loves you!
