Monkeying Around in the Garden of Eden

So just as you are using Hinduism for the parts of bible that "don't make sense", what is your fallback for the parts in Hinduism that don't make sense? The quran?

You say that we are not entirely god's image but a part of god's awareness, right? Then god is just as evil... after all the junior gods like Indra and all are cousins/half-brothers to the demons and asuras, and all were created within one exhalation of Vishnu, in other words, part of his consciousness. Moreover, according to Hindu mythology, the demons would have been a lot less problematic if the gods didn't keep granting their wishes and giving them enough power to torture the humans, just so the deities could play hero. The avatars of the gods weren't much better than the demons. Either way, if we are talking about sin, then as per hindu mythology their gods are just as sinful.

Apart from that, the gods don't seem much knowledgeable either. Just look at their cosmology as per gita and other scriptures. I certainly don't hate the idea of a butter island floating on an ocean of honey or wine, but when you think an incarnation of god imparted those to prove the divine knowledge of reality, you have to wonder what they were smoking at that point, and what people are smoking now to believe those bs.

Hinduism is a religion and I don't follow religions.
If I would follow Hinduism then I would believe in the immoral caste system in hundreds of Gods,
in the sacred cow in the dowry system and all the other bullshit.
Hinduism came after yoga.
Slowly slowly the corrupted priests turn yoga spirituality into the religion that we got these days.
So no I have nothing to do with Hinduism except that we all believe in God and in reincarnation.
All the rest no.

Where do you get your God from then? did you just think him up, did someone tell you about him or did you find him in some other book or text written by stone/bronze age  semi-illiterates ?

Note Rik it is pointless talking about being in the image of God until we ascertain which God we are talking about ....

There is a system dog.
The system work in this way.
When the student is ready to learn the teacher is also ready to teach.
You don't have to do anything extraordinary.
All you have to do is to have the desire to learn.  Lightbulb

So in other words, you cherry pick the parts you like, and the other parts you don't like are false and corrupted by man?

Dammit. It's spreading again...we have to stop feeding it...shit filters useless...starving it is the only way...
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

I demonstrated I was ready to learn by going beyond my religious indoctrination with an open mind ...

You have taken the first step to going beyond your indoctrination by conversing with atheists ...

Just one further step Rik and that is to open your mind.

I am routing for you Rik, the wonders of the universe without a God await Smile

Only to people that don't know anything about evolution like you and have never read any books about it. Evolutionary genetics had shown that the population of modern humans was always much larger than two therefore the story of Adam and Eve could not be literally true.

Yeah you seem to be one of those people that takes Bible liberally, you want to interpret it your own way including that somehow god creating world in 6 days includes evolution. But again it's cherry picking the Bible. Most of the Christian denominations today still cling to literal interpretation of Genesis story. Some say that Catholics have somewhat liberal approach, but still for centuries they took the story of Adam and Eve as the sole ancestors of humanity literally. And no wonder, for the description in the Bible is straightforward, without the slightest hint that it’s an allegory. Catholics have in fact always adhered literally to religious monogenism, the biological descent of all humans from Adam and Eve. The reality of the Garden of Eden, the Fall, and Adam and Eve as our ancestors was accepted by early theologians and church fathers like Tertullian, Augustine, Aquinas.

No, you are attacking me instead of elaborating why did you say that "Jesus suffered and it was good." Those words mean: God making someone suffering is good. And yeah trough the Old Testament God is killing people left and right on almost every page, but in New Testament he goes for even "bigger" killing - himself.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Not at all Mag.

I never pick anything from Hinduism.  Tut Tut
It is Hinduism that pick from yoga.
All I said is that what is left from yoga in Hinduism is the understanding that there is God and the believe in reincarnation.
All the rest is gone.

Got it now?  Smile

One question F. Messiah.

I see you say F... God.
Did God did anything to you to be upset or is about something else?
Please tell me I am curious to know.  Rolleyes
