I didn't realize you were a Halsey expert. Should I alert the Naval History and Heritage Command?

Well, then halsey’s emotional reaction to the definitely toneless content of the naval message is even more over the top now, isn’t it.  I believe the toneless reaction to the toneless message was to the effect of “what the fuck did Chester mean by this….” While hat were thrown on the deck.

So you're as pissy as Halsey?

This claim too is incorrect:

Quote:Admiral Nimitz's direction to Spruance "was to capture, occupy and defend
Saipan, Guam and Tinian and develop air bases in these islands." Nimitz's orders said
nothing about qoinq on the offensive against an enemy fleet.

Nimitz's caveat to Halsey came about as a result of Spruance's refusal to leave the area of the invasion and engage Ozawa to the west, according to both Trent Hone and Craig Symonds.

A movie called "Leo and Mona"

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Nimitiz's orders to Halsey included the clause that should the IJN carriers show up, they would become the primary target.

Wasn't a fucktop of planes left for those carriers after the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot. They were a decoy.

Two:

-A docudrama about the making of the Harry Potter films with Elijah Wood playing Daniel Radcliffe.

-A docudrama about the making of the LOTR films with Daniel Radcliffe playing Elijah Wood.

"The World Wonders" was inadvertently appended to "Where is Halsey?" when the message was delivered to him. The padding should have been deleted. I wonder if the ensign that goof that stayed in the Navy after the war.

Right. Nimitz's caveat to Halsey was based on the criticism Spruance received (in part, ironically, from Halsey) for being too cautious. So Halsey got suckered into attacking empty flattops. And JICPOA couldn't really know the air-groups on Ozawa's carriers, because the planes could be loaded ashore without using any radio comm.

Funny thing -- according to Craig Symonds, after the war Nimitz's eldest son Chet was asking him about this. When Chester Sr admitted including the clause mentioned above in his orders to Halsey, his own son told him, "Well, then it's your fault." Chet Jr was himself a LtCdr in PacFlt during the war.

It was clearly after the "RR" separator. I bet Halsey sent him to Kiska.
